I care about privacy A LOT, and I have kept this policy as short and plain as I can.
The short version: I collect very little, I use it only to do what you asked me to do, and I never sell any of your information under any circumstances.
What I collect:
If you subscribe to my newsletter, I collect your email address.
If you send a message through my contact form, I collect your name, your email, and whatever you write to me.
If you comment on an essay, I collect your name, email, and comment.
My site gathers basic, aggregate visit statistics, such as page views and general location at the country or city level. This is not used to identify you personally.
How I use it:
To send you the writing you signed up for.
To reply to you when you reach out.
To understand, in broad terms, which essays people read.
What I do not do:
I do not sell your personal information.
I do not share it with advertisers.
I do not use it to track you across other websites.
Cookies:
My site uses a small number of cookies needed to function and to keep the basic visit statistics above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Service providers:
A few trusted services help run this site and handle data on my behalf: my website host, my email platform (currently Kit), my comment spam filter, and my analytics. Each processes only what it needs to do its job.
Your choices and rights:
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any newsletter.
You can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. I will honor all reasonable requests.

Data retention:
I keep your information only as long as it serves the purpose you gave it for, or as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, I remove your information.
Children:
This site is not directed to children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes:
If I update this policy, I will change the date at the top.
